On Tuesday, the usual day that abortions are committed at Planned Parenthood, West Chester, appointments are kept for approximately 21 unborn babies—-a whole classroom full of children.

The response of our local pro-life community can be viewed as performing the Corporal Works of Mercy.

Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick – may be fulfilled by our presence at the abortion clinic.  Pro-lifers are ready to offer practical help by meeting the needs of the mothers.  Free medical and legal help and the material needs of food, clothing and shelter are available through the efforts of the local pregnancy centers and private efforts. This information is given to the clients by loving and caring people with a willingness to drive or give directions to those willing to accept help at the center.  The helps continue through the pregnancy and beyond.

Visit the imprisoned – The helpless and innocent unborn babies are those awaiting death by abortion.  The sidewalk counsellors are their advocates.  The babies’ existence is affirmed by the efforts to save them.

Bury the dead – The presence of sidewalk counsellors is the closest thing that thousands of babies will have dignifying their lives and their cruel deaths.  They have been rejected by parents and they have no names, no baptism, no funeral or burial.

A personal commitment to spend one hour of prayer and offer information at the abortion clinic is an opportunity to save lives, to show the love and mercy of God to those entering the door. It is a concerted effort to change the culture of death to a culture of life.(excerpts from Pro-Life Action Ministries newsletter)

40 Days For Life imageMIDWAY EVENT

Sunday, March 23rd 2 PM to 4 PM

PP and Chester County Women Services

Many of us who pray in front of Planned Parenthood have never had the occasion to visit Chester County Women’s Medical Center even though we regularly offer CCWS Ultrasound Coupons to potential customers of PP. On Sunday, March 23rd at 2 PM we will meet in front of PP, 8 S.Wayne St., West Chester for a short prayer gathering and then walk (three blocks) up to CCWS, 27 S. Church St.   The Staff at CCWS will then talk us through the counseling process. Below is a comprehensive description of CCWS, provided by Myriam Ruager, their Executive Director.  It is a great introduction for our visit.

Chester County Women’s Services (CCWS) is a crisis pregnancy medical center serving women and families in Coatesville, Kennett Square, and West Chester since 1985. We provide free and confidential pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, prenatal vitamins, and most importantly, compassion and support. Our mission is to educate and empower individuals and their families to make life-affirming choices. But that’s just the beginning. We also provide parenting classes, Bible studies, men’s mentoring, counseling and post-abortion support. Our parenting closets provide much needed supplies such as diapers, clothes, and other baby equipment.

In 2013 we opened our third office in Kennett Square and hired additional staff. We have also seen an increase in the number of abortion-minded women coming to our centers. We praise God that we can now offer medical services and ultrasounds in all three locations. The majority of women who are considering abortion change their minds once they see their baby on the ultrasound. Facing an unplanned pregnancy, becoming a mother, committing to be a family; these are all life-altering decisions, and our client advocates and teachers help our clients by listening, teaching, training, and supporting them for as long as they need our help. We treat each individual as exactly that; an individual. No story is the same, and each one is precious.

We strive to be a place of hope, healing, and compassion, and it is our mission to serve as many women and families as we possibly can, but we can only do that with the help of volunteers. We need a nurse and/or sonographer for our West Chester and Coatesville centers on Fridays, anytime between 9:00am-2:00pm. We need client advocates/counselors and teachers (training and curriculum is provided). We need help to prepare our newsletters and other mailings throughout the year. Each year we see more women and men choosing life, for themselves as well as their families. Here’s a quick look at some statistics from the past 2 years:

2012 2013
New Clients 288 346
Ultrasounds 219 357
Pregnancy Tests 284 368
Total Visits 1,160 1,396
Educational Services 718 817
Volunteer Hours 2,537 2,391

To contact CCWS call: 610-918-7808  or  610-383-0930

Even if you have not yet participated in a 40 Days , consider coming and seeing if this is the avenue God is calling you to help the unborn and their families. Needless to say, with the opening of their 3rd crisis pregnancy center more babies are being saved and more volunteers are desperately need.  There are never too many volunteers when the unborn are involved.

Leah DarrowLeah Darrow, former top New York model, focuses on forgiveness, true love and the ability to change your life.  Leah draws upon her own experiences in fashion, reality TV and the moments during and after her reversion to her Catholic faith to emphasize the call to greatness within us all.

Leah Darrow is an international Catholic speaker that dares her audience to live a life according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She speaks to people of all ages on topics of mercy, conversion, human dignity, modesty, and chastity. Leah is particularly inspired to share these ideas in light of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body.

In her own words, “Women have so much to offer the world— and very little of it has to do with our lip-gloss and high heels.  We encourage women to embrace their

God-given dignity – by being classy, fabulous and faithful.”

40 Days For Life image

In the 42nd  year of legalized abortions in the United States, 40 Days for Life embarks on their 14th Campaign both Inter-nationally and locally in Chester County.  8,245 babies have been spared from abortion since 2007 through prayers, fasting and  peaceful vigils of 40 Days held in front of abortion centers across the world.

newbornMeet Lucas, born Oct 28th, 2013. During our last Spring Campaign, Lucas’ mom came to West Chester’s Planned Parenthood to secure an abortion. She changed her mind when inside of PP, “especially after seeing all the people praying outside” she said.  She told her mother who took her to Chester County Women Services. She left with her first ultrasound picture of Lucas, a bible and information to carry her baby to term. Because we joined together to show Lucas’ mom that there are alternatives to abortion and she matters, Lucas became the 31st of the 33 babies saved from abortion in West Chester during 40 Days. Lucas and the other 32 babies are the best recruiters for your participation in 40 Days as without you they would not be here today.

Public participation in the Stations of the Cross reminds the community of the ultimate sacrifice of innocent life. Jesus died because he was born the Son of God; these children are killed because they were innocently conceived.

Please include your family as we invite the youth to lead us in the stations. This is the special time we give thanks for all life and give honor and glory to the risen  Christ.
