Chesco Marchers

L to R – Stephen Freind, Carolyn Thomas (our founder). Margaret Mary Filaromo (past presedent), Ed Taylor (president) and Jo Christof (past president)

Our annual march for Life was a rousing success.  The opening prayer was led by Reverend Father Mina Shaheid, a Coptic Orthodox priest.  Johnny Taylor, the Vice president of the Bishop Shanahan pro-life group then gave an inspirational talk on chastity. This was followed by our main speaker Stephen Freind, the former legislator and the author of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act.  He convinced us that we are winning and we need to keep up the fight.  The public witness award was given to Carley Freeth and Johnny Taylor, the President and Vice President of the Bishop Shanahan Pro-Life Club, respectively. The music was provided by the angelic voices of the choir from Regina Luminis Academy and the final blessing was provided by Gene Epps..

Following the program many of the pro-lifers marched to the old Courthouse for a short prayer service.

After which, there was a social at the Knights of Columbus hall in West Chester.

The Supreme Court struck down every state law protecting unborn children on January 22, 1973.  Since then 56 million unborn children have been aborted.  These children, made in the image and likeness of God are remembered and mourned at various memorial sites located in our local Church yards and public areas.

On the Feast of the Holy innocents, December 28, 2013, people of Faith at SS. Peter and Paul parish, reflected on the death of the children who have died in our local abortion; mills.  Grief is not for their souls, for we are certain of their place with God.  We know that their voices are not silenced in heaven.

We believe that they plead for us.  We believe that they are praying for our steadfastness in following God’s will.

The memorial stone, by its very presence, reminds us of our commitment to abolish the taking of innocent life in our land.  We ask for God’s mercy and forgiveness for ourselves with a pledge to shelter all children, all parents who are desperate and despairing, and to plead our cause to Jesus, through Mary our Mother forever.

February 22 & 23, 2014 THEOLOGY OF THE BODY WORKSHOP FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS (grades 9 – 12)

Theology of the Body for Teens is a dynamic faith formation program for teens which will be offered in a workshop format on Saturday and Sunday. Using a great mix of stories, real-life examples, activities, prayers, and relevant references to the culture, it goes beyond traditional chastity programs by connecting the two hottest topics on the planet–God and sex.

With Blessed Pope John Paul II’s compelling vision for love and life, and a language they understand, Theology of the Body for Teens answers the questions teens and pre-teens have about their own bodies, issues on sexual morality, and how they are uniquely created for greatness.

The workshop will be led by Mike Field, St. Peter Youth Minister and Tracy Phillips.  It will be appropriate for students in 9th grade and above. A fee will be charged to be determined.
