The procession of 57 Memorial Crosses began with a prayer lead by Thomas Ackerman uniting over 75 people of all ages as a family in God mourning the loss of 57 million children. The silence we observed in prayer as we processed spoke volumes to the community of West Chester as they were made aware of the number of abortion that have been done since 1973 and the horror that 20 thousand of these babies died right in their neighborhood.

On the steps of the old Courthouse we recommitted ourselves never to be silent or passive and to share our experience with others as how they too may become more involved in helping the unborn and their families.

As you read this, I invite you to spend one hour in prayer in front of Planned Parenthood monthly, if possible, giving value to the children of God and that in our community there is hope and help and no one needs to despair in loneliness.

Thank you to all who made this procession of love possible and to all who made this 15th 40 Days For Life in Chester County a success. 36 babies that we know of are alive today because you invested your time in doing God’s work since 2007.

40 Days For Life image

2nd baby showerBirthright in West Chester, Birthright in Coatesville, and the Chester County Women Services join with me in thanking each and every one of you for your outstanding generosity which made our 2nd Annual Baby Shower in front of PP a great success for the children and their families.

Visible baby items on the street, show that we who pray for the lives of these children, understand that unplanned pregnancies cause great stress and turmoil in the lives of these mothers, who may have been abandoned by all others in their own lives. We are there offering alternatives to abortion and ready to support them in all their needs both spiritual and physical.

350 items and $180 were donated during this Fall Campaign. Everything is divided by three, to the best of our ability, and distributed to the three crisis centers. Besides donating items, Mary Kate Priesto, Phil Tran, Kevin Jensen and Emily Hang from Bishop Shanahan High School helped in collecting and keeping the items presentable to the passing cars and clients of PP. It is a day that helps the community to sees it is “a child not a choice”.

Please continue to save used clothing items up to size 4 and collect items through the year which will help to make our 3rd Shower another great and inspiring success and a public witness to life.

To the dismay of California’s people of faith, the California Department of Managed Health Care has reclassified abortion as a “basic health service” under the Affordable Care Act and ordered all insurance plans in the state to begin covering surgical abortions immediately. Even churches are not exempt from funding abortions.

Operation Rescue opposes this policy that forces men and women who deeply oppose abortion on religious grounds to fund surgical abortion in violation of their faith, and encourages others to oppose it as well.

“Since Obamacare was first introduced, we warned that the day could come when Christians would be required by the state to violate their consciences through forced payments for abortion,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Now, with this mandate in California that imposes forced abortion funding on churches, it has come time for men and women of faith to stand against this tyranny and refuse to comply with this unjust law that would make us accessories to the taking of innocent human life.”

Last year, Operation Rescue launched the “Pledge for the Preservation of Life and Liberty,” which has been signed by most of the nation’s best respected pro-life leaders.

This Pledge has been carefully crafted to stand as a ‘line in the sand’ regarding any scenario in which the Affordable Care Act forces individuals to participate – whether directly or indirectly – in the destruction of human life. In short, the pro-life movement has chosen one answer to being forced to fund abortion through healthcare: We will not comply.

“I have made the decision not to comply with any unjust law that would force me to pay for abortions – no matter the personal cost to me,” Newman said. “Instead, I have chosen to engage in peaceful civil disobedience rather than violate my faith and conscience. Those in California need to understand that this assault on our religious liberties is just the beginning. It will never end if we do not stand firm today and refuse to fund abortions. Religious freedom and the lives of babies that would be lost if we capitulate are more than worth the personal sacrifice. I invite Californians to join me in resisting this evil mandate.” Note: Cheryl Sullenger is a leader of Operation Rescue, a pro-life that monitors abortion practitioners and exposes their illegal and unethical practices.
